Competitive Squads
Green Pod
Age Group
7 - 10 years old
Emphasis
In the initial stage of our competitive squads we focus on enhancing the freestyle and backstroke techniques and introducing the fundamentals of butterfly and breaststroke. This approach ensures that swimmers develop a comprehensive skill set that prepares them for higher levels of competition. The Green Pod serves as a crucial stepping stone in our competitive pathway, where swimmers build the necessary skills and discipline required for future success in swimming. Our structured environment emphasizes skill improvement and teamwork, gearing our athletes for advanced competitive challenges.
Competitive Requirement
In Green Pod, we actively encourage all swimmers to participate in home meets. Additionally, we host race nights once a month throughout the season. These events offer valuable racing experience and allow swimmers to track their progress over time. As part of the Green Pod experience, attending at least one away meet is required. This commitment helps foster a competitive spirit and gives swimmers the opportunity to test their skills in different environments, promoting both growth and condence in their swimming abilities.
Progression
To progress from Green Pod, swimmers must demonstrate proficiency in freestyle and backstroke, including the ability to perform flip turns for both strokes. They should also have a fundamental understanding of butterfly and breaststroke. Meeting competitive requirements is essential, which includes participating in both home meets and at least one away meet per season. Similar to the criteria set for Pups, swimmers need to exhibit consistent attendance, strong listening skills, and the capability to complete training sessions with condence. Progression in Green Pod emphasizes not only technical skill development but also readiness to engage more deeply in competitive swimming, aiming for participation in regional meets and beyond. This structured approach ensures swimmers are well-prepared for the next levels of competition.

Emphasis
For our Red Pod, we offer three one-hour sessions each week, running from September to June, with breaks aligning with school holidays. These sessions focus on mastering butterfly and breaststroke techniques, as well as advanced racing skills and turns. Recognizing that attending three sessions per week might be a transition for some swimmers, our coaching staff is dedicated to helping each athlete attain this goal. By providing personalized support and guidance, we ensure that swimmers can gradually adapt to the increased frequency and intensity of training. This approach not only improves their technical abilities but also prepares them mentally and physically for the demands of competitive swimming, fostering teamwork and resilience along the way.
Competitive Requirement
In Red Pod, participation in home meets continues to be encouraged, and we also host monthly race nights throughout the season to provide consistent competitive practice. A key component of the Red Pod experience is the requirement to attend at least two away meets. Participating in these meets is crucial for growth, as it offers swimmers the chance to apply their skills against a broader range of competitors, enhancing both their condence and prociency in the sport.

To progress to the Silver level, swimmers in Red Pod must demonstrate a solid technical understanding of butterfly and backstroke. Additionally, they should exhibit a willingness to increase their training intensity and a keen desire to compete. This includes not only mastering stroke techniques but also showing consistent dedication to training and competition. Swimmers are expected to be regular participants in both home and away meets, actively applying their skills and striving for continuous improvement. Emphasis
Welcome to the Black Pod—our premier training group at the pinnacle of our competitive program. This elite level is designed for athletes aiming to achieve provincial standards and beyond, representing the highest tier of our swim club. The Black Pod demands a robust training schedule, with swimmers required to participate in six pool sessions each week. We understand that reaching this frequency can be challenging, so our coaches are committed to working closely with each athlete to gradually increase their training load to meet this goal. Additionally, we have integrated two dryland training sessions on Monday and Wednesday. These sessions are critical for the development of strength and conditioning, which are essential at this level of competition. Specialized sessions exclusively for Black Pod members are held on Tuesday evenings and Thursday mornings, focusing on advanced techniques and strategies to enhance competitive performance.
Most of our pool sessions are combined with the Silver Pod, fostering a competitive and supportive environment where our top athletes can inspire and push each other towards excellence. This structure ensures that training is both challenging and supportive, maintaining high standards of performance across both groups.
If the Black Pod's six-session requirement proves to be too demanding, swimmers have the option to train with the Silver Pod instead. This is not a demotion, but rather an adjustment to ensure that each athlete receives the appropriate level of training commitment for their individual needs and current capacity. Our goal is to support every swimmer in their development, ensuring they can train effectively and enjoy their journey in the sport.
Joining the Black Pod is a commitment to reaching your full potential as a competitive swimmer, with a clear focus on excelling at regional and national levels. We're excited to support you on this journey to the top.
Competitive Requirement
In the Black Pod, a key component of our program is the requirement for swimmers to attend a minimum of three away meets per season, though we encourage athletes to exceed this minimum. Competing regularly is essential for developing a competitive mindset and refining racing skills.
Participation in these meets allows swimmers to challenge themselves in different environments and against a diverse array of competitors. This exposure is crucial for growth, as it not only tests their abilities but also builds resilience and adaptability. Competing frequently enhances their confidence, sharpens their proficiency, and prepares them thoroughly for the demands of higher levels of competition.
Moreover, participating in competitions fosters a strong team atmosphere. When swimmers compete together, they support each other, share experiences, and build camaraderie. This sense of unity and team spirit is invaluable, contributing to a positive and motivating training environment. By consistently engaging in competitions, our athletes not only improve individually but also strengthen the overall team dynamic, driving everyone towards greater success.
